Premiere! Spruce roots – film and workshop
Three years ago, we obtained funds for our master Jan Zogata for a “master of tradition” project, which allowed young students to learn during nearly year weaving the spruce root. That’s when Bartłomiej Juroszek started his education with the master.
Last week, Bartek Juroszek led us a basketry workshop from spruce roots. Although he is very young, he did it great! We are extremely proud of him and we want to work with him for a long time!

What did our spruce root workshop look like?
It was led by Bartek and us. For two days, each participant made her own basket from the roots on a wooden form. We also visited Master Jan’s workshop and talked to him about his work. It was a nice weekend in Cieszyn, in Serfenta, beautifully scented with resin and full of great atmosphere.
We are glad that such wonderful girls took part in the workshops. Everyone from any branch and place in the world can come to our workshops! We had a visit of:
Caroline Dear artist, a great basketmaker and artist, who came to us from Scotland, from the isle of Skye, a member of Scottish Basketmakers Circle, winner of many awards – like fe Creative Scotland, the Royal Scottish Academy. “From an understanding of the balance and flow within nature I am exploring our changing relationship with the natural world and the subtle connections that exist between our inner selves and the outer physical landscape.” She also showed us her craft’s skills – we weaved straw strings with her it was a great thing to exchange skills.
Alicja Patanowska, who combines glass with cermics and art with design. Craft skills are crucial for her artistic and design practice – she creates and she likes to experiment with materials Glass ASP Wrocław. We have to say that talented Alicja got many awards – from the Royal College of Art, Mazda design, Lodz Design Festival.
Marta Szostek from the supergirls do design team, which creates with Agata Kiedrowicz, also from School of forms and Design Academy Eindhoven.
