A week of hands, ideas and exchange

International exchange in action

Next week, partners of the Erasmus+ GPS project meet in Lichtenfels to explore the ways of vocational training in basketry, combining workshops, school visits, public discussion, and cultural exchange during a craft film festival.

Throughout the week, the whole group will explore the vocational training in basketry in Lichtenfels. It also includes hands-on work with students and teachers at the Vocational School in Lichtenfels. The program combines practical workshops, discussions, organizational meetings, and cultural activities.  A key highlight will be a public discussion panel at the Archive of the Future, focusing on access to the weaving craft and how training can become more attractive for future generations. The meeting also includes joint project work, documentation, and encounters with regional cultural institutions.  The GPS project aims to strengthen European cooperation in traditional crafts and to develop new, attractive, and sustainable approaches to non-formal vocational education in basketry.

Over five days, we will:

  • work side by side in hands-on workshops
  • exchange ideas with students and teachers at the Vocational School for Wickerwork Design in Lichtenfels, Germany
  • visit cultural institutions and regional initiatives connected to basketry and craft heritage participate in the 36th short film festival in Bamberg with short films about the craft experience
  • reflect together in project meetings on how learning, teaching and cooperation can evolve
  • and share our questions and visions in a public discussion panel at the Archive of the Future.
